Your Privacy Is Important

Your Personal Health Information (PHI) will be stored electronically with HIPAA-compliant software, which verifies that the physical and technical safeguards implemented satisfy the requirements outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule and HIPAA Security Rule.  Additionally, strong SSL encryption ensures secure communication between our browser and the host’s web servers.  Counselor Tina, LLC has a signed HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) ensuring your PHI will be maintained in a HIPAA-compliant format.

As your counselor, I keep everything you say to me confidential, unless:

(1) You direct me to tell someone else, and you sign a “Release of Information” form;

(2) You are a danger to yourself or others;

(3) You report information about the abuse of a child, an elderly person, or a disabled individual who may require protection;

(4) A judge orders me to disclose information.

The therapist-client relationship is protected by the principle of “privileged communication.” Privileged communication is your right as a client to have a confidential relationship with a therapist.

As a member of the American Counseling Association, I adhere to the ACA Code of Ethics.
